SMCL Thank You Dinner at Amarres

On Wednesday January 11, 2102, the Online Collaborative team at AUB hosted a thank you dinner in honor of the success of the Social Media Changing Lives Conference that took place on December 16, 2011. The guests of this dinner included HMA the British Ambassador to Lebanon Mr. Tom Fletcher and members of the British Foreign Office in Lebanon, Dean of Student Affairs at AUB Dr. Talal Nizameddine, speakers, panelists and performers of SMCL, the Online Collaborative team who made the conference possible as well as friends of the organization.

During the event, Ambassador Fletcher thanked the team for their great work and the success of the conference and expressed his eagerness to collaborate with them on projects in the future. The second speaker was Mrs. Leila Khauli Hanna, Online Collaborative's adviser, who also thanked the team and the speakers who made this event possible and expression her admiration for "the hard-working and professional Online Collaborative members who constitute the best club on campus."

Hanna also announced that Ms. Loulwa Kalache will president of AUB's Online Collaborative for the spring semester succeeding the founder Mr. Mohammad Hijazi, who is graduating (more info here). Kalache spoke about the previous events of Online Collaborative and the anticipated projects and plans to come.

The last speech for the night was by Mr. Mohammad Hijazi who thanked the team immensely for their incredible work and announced the creation of a local Online Collaborative NGO that aims to expand the work of Online Collaborative to a national level (more info here).
